In the next few weeks to months we will be introducing 100, 4 to 6 inch (10 to 15 cm) CRUCIAN CARP. These are pure bred English fish and are a lovely butter gold colour. They feed both bottom and mid water, they are very shy feeders and small baits will be a must if you want to grace your net with one. They can grow in excess of 4 lbs in weight.

The funding from this will will enable us to make developments in several areas, including ;
- development of the western bank with an orchard containing several fruit trees, and eventually a seating & pick-nick area.
- repair & renovation of the paths and fishing pegs around the pond.
This is an exciting development for the IPA & renovation of the paths & ground clearance has already started.
Planting of trees is planned for the 25’th & 26’th of February & additional help from volunteers will be welcomed on the day.
We plan further development & maintenance of the area over the coming months & years.
Many people have contacted us recently seeking to donate or sponsor some development around the pond & to this end we may be able to offer “Sponsor a tree or bench”, please enquire on the Iremongers Pond Facebook page for further details.

Great cleanup day on Sunday the 3'rd of July 2016.
We had a quick meeting first and were glad to welcome not only 2 new bailiff's to help Andy and his team with looking after the fishing side of things, we also had several new helpers for pond maintenance tasks.
WORK DONE
All paths cleared and now easily passable. seating area strimmed down to a level where we can hopefully get the mower on the area with the help of a few more dry days.
Many overhanging tree branches removed from both the paths and fishing pegs areas.
All 4 bins emptied and new bin liners fitted.

Big Cleanup day 20'th March 2016
We are having a BIG clear up at the pond next Sunday the 20th March from 10.30am, if you would like to lend a hand please come along, wear suitable clothing & gloves advised.
Much needed operation : "Empty The Bins" - 9 of us went down this Sunday 13'th March 11am, to empty the rest of the bins and do a bit of clearing-up. Not much litter around but the bins were very full. Needed Alex's truck to take the industrial strength bags away.
Gosh the accumulation of dog poo is horrendous, why can't people take it home or use a roadside bin.
=====================================================================
From Secretary Bill (Friday 11'th of March 2016).
I went down with six refuse sacks today, hoping to empty the bins. It took me nearly 1.5 hours, and I managed to get just one and a half of them done. The first bin filled 4 sacks, and the second one the last 2 sacks I had with me. Kids (or someone) has been setting fire to the bins, so all the contents are loose and often leaking, and each disgusting piece of foul smelling excrement has to be picked out separately. The first bin also had a family of mice resident in it. That was a surprise.

NET Work Party - Tuesday 21'st of May 2013 - 1.30 pm
Paul Mullins of Vinci Construction, the people working on the Tram, have offered help with maintenance work around the pond starting at 1.30pm on Tuesday the 21'st of May 2013.
=====================================================================
Latest Tram News (Autum & Winter 2012).
The whole of the open area adjacent to the west bank , the southern bank and the south eastern quarter of the pond are largely
cordoned off with fences and construction works for the "Nottingham Express Transit - Tram" workings.
Therefore the usual access point on the south western edge of the site near to the Ferry Inn at the junction of Main Road and
Coronation Avenue is unavailable.
There is a small foot traffic access point next to the Toll Bridge but this access path is relatively difficult to use and unfortunately
there is no car parking nearby.
Walkers and fishermen are still able to access the pond and pathways but things will be difficult especially during periods of
flooding for the immediate future.
Some pictures of the current tram works can be found here, here, here and here. (Courtesy of "This IS Wilford" web site).
When the tram works have finished there will be significant changes all along the southern edge of the pond site with not only a
new tram stop and small 20+ place car park, to be built near to the Ferry Inn on Main Road.
There will also be a new concrete retaining wall half way up the present flood protection bank along the south site edge parallel
with Coronation Avenue. This will be needed to enable the tram to run along the top of the present bank parallel to the road.
There will also be a new rainwater drainage settlement pond created on the removed top of the old railway embankment for approximately 80 to 100 meters immediately to the north of Coronation Avenue.
This will be used to remove contaminants of oil, salt or similar from the water draining off the new tram line.
This was a significant change insisted upon by us, the IPA, with the backing of the Environment Agency and changed NET's original design to drain straight into the pond.
We are assured that "NET" and "Taylor Woodrow Construction" will return the site to the same or better condition when they have
finished in late 2013.
We will continue to fight hard to ensure this valuable and award winning local resource is not irrevocably damaged by the Tram
and have already gained help to relocate the benches and other help from NET & Taylor Woodrow.
=====================================================================
Start of the Tram workings in early 2012.
Initial works affecting Iremongers Pond will commence in late January or early February 2012 to erect temporary fencing
and vegetation clearance and last for approximately 2 weeks. Where the tramway crosses Coronation Avenue, water
pipes, electricity and telecommunications will be diverted out of the way of the proposed tramway.
These diversions should commence in March 2012 and will last approximately 5 months.
Removal of part of the old railway embankment adjacent to Iremongers Pond is due to commence in March 2012 and will
take approximately 3 months. This is necessary to maintain the flood area available to enable the construction of the flood
wall on Coronation Avenue. The works on the wall will commence in summer 2012, once these works to the embankment
are complete and will last approximately 4 months.
The track and road junction where the tramway crosses Coronation Avenue are planned for late summer 2012 and will last
for approximately 3 months. It is anticipated that the installation of the track adjacent to Iremongers Pond will be in spring
2013 and again will last approximately 3 months.
Following completion of the above, additional work will be required to install poles to support the overhead electric wire and
the signalling equipment. Testing and commissioning of the tramway will commence in late spring / early summer 2014.
